Sift People
Gail Perry, Publisher
As Publisher at Sift Media US and a CPA, I oversee the content on all of our sites. I also speak at many accounting events, trade shows, and Webinars. I've written 30 books (my latest is Mint.com For Dummies, published in November, 2010), teach an online personal finance course, and maintain a small tax practice.
Stonewall (Tony) Thomas, IT Manager
I love to hear people say, "If I had to do your job I'd go insane!" because I get to keep it all for myself. Not being socially skilled, working with computers and arcane coding languages suits me just fine. I got my hands on my first computer in the Apple II days of the 80's.
Caleb Newquist, Editor of Going Concern
Caleb Newquist is the founding editor of Going Concern. He is too young to remember the Big 8 (or even the Big 6 for that matter) but old enough that he passed the written CPA exam. After nearly six years of crunching numbers, he was given the opportunity to found Going Concern but was mostly interested in the opportunity to leave the puzzle of "business casual dress" behind.
Nicole Jones-Kinney, Account Executive
Nicole has over 15 years of experience in B2B advertising sales and consumer marketing, plus media planning on the advertising agency side of this fast-moving advertising world.
Terri Eyden, Senior Editor
In her role as Senior Editor, Terri conducts research, participates in editorial planning, works with writers and edits their work, and writes the occasional news story. She’s worked as an editor for more than eighteen years, including six within the CPE industry.
David Ringstrom, Staff Writer
As a staff writer for Sift Media in the US, I primarily contribute articles on technology, and Microsoft Excel in particular. I'm fond of saying "Either you work Excel, or it works you", and my goal is to help CPAs and accountants work smarter.
Adrienne Gonzalez, Contributor
As daily contributor for Going Concern, I enjoy covering the CPA exam, regulation, the impact of Gen Y on the industry and off-beat accounting news that other media outlets are afraid to touch. My goal is to leave a positive impact on the younger half of the accounting industry as they will one day inherit the empire.
Joe Kristan, Contributor
Joe has been blogging about taxes since the Stone Age. He went over the wall of a national accounting firm in 1990 to help start a new Des Moines, Iowa CPA firm, and remains unable to find better work. His practice primarily involves small businesses and their owners. Pass-through, individual and corporate work is his bread and butter, with some international work thrown in for dessert.
Teresa Ambord, Freelance Writer
The best thing about AccountingWeb from my perspective is that we can look at all sides of the accounting profession, even if it means poking a little fun at ourselves. As a former Enrolled Agent, with a BS in accounting and years of practice in a variety of settings... now I call myself a recovering accountant. I still practice a little, but mostly I research and write about the profession.
Chris Camara, Staff Writer
Chris has been writing for AccountingWEB since its early days, and is always amazed at how rapidly the field evolves. Who says accounting is boring? For more than 10 years, Chris covered local government as a newspaper reporter in New England and Washington state. She now works from home, writing and editing for nonprofit organizations and trade publications.
Marci Grossman, Staff Writer
As a staff writer I never know what I might be writing about next. I love when I can connect accounting professionals with new ideas about the profession and themselves. I'm not sure where the stereotype of boring accountants originated, but I haven't met one yet. My background in accounting and my passion for writing make working for Sift Media a great fit for me.
Anne Rosivach, Staff Writer
Anne returned to freelance writing a few years ago, after spending 20 years in administration in one of the big four firms, where she worked as a recruiter and tax administrator. She finds the world of accounting, -- the people, firms and organizations - to be an exciting and tremendously varied subject, and writing for AccountingWEB is just lots of fun.
Jason Bramwell, Staff Writer
A member of the AccountingWEB freelance staff since July 2010, Jason has written a variety of articles, including firm news, industry profiles, educational initiatives, and technological advances.
Deanna White, Freelance Writer
Deanna White is one of the newest freelance writers to join the AccountingWEB team. She has more than 20 years of journalism and public relations experience, including her tenure as a former newspaper reporter in Illinois where she covered breaking news, crime and state legislative issues. She also taught high school English in suburban Chicago.
Daniel W. Braddock, Contributor
Daniel's goal is to bring an HR-insider's viewpoint to the Going Concern's community every week. Daniel began his career within a Big4's Financial Services group before transitioning to a people-focused career in HR. When not openly discussing hiring trends and career transitions on GC, Daniel spends his day dealing with highly sensitive HR matters (hence his camera-shy photo).
Ken Berry, Freelance Writer
Ken Berry is a nationally-known freelance writer and editor specializing in tax and financial planning matters. During his career of more than 30 years, he has written for a wide variety of newsletters, magazines and other periodicals with a sense of style and clarity.
Liz Gold, Staff Writer
Liz Gold is a writer based in Brooklyn, NY. She spent four years as editor at Accounting Today where she learned accountants were actually pretty cool. She enjoys writing about creative business types, innovators, change agents, and unconventional relationships.
Alexandra DeFelice, Staff Writer
Alexandra is Senior Manager--Communications & Program Development for Moore Stephens North America. She is responsible for strategic communications between member firms--both within North America and internationally--and raising external visibility of firms and the association. She works with the executive director to develop content for conferences, webinars, newsletters, and programs. Prior to working for MSNA, Alexandra spent more than a decade as a journalist covering a variety of topics. For the past six years, most of her writing and editing work has focused on accountants. This includes practice management and technology tips as well as social media efforts tied to the next generation of CPAs in her roles at the Journal of Accountancy, Accounting Today and a blog she co-founded, Accounting Tomorrow. She also has presented at conferences and moderated panels and Webinars on topics that are top of mind to today’s professional accountants. She can be reached at adefelice@msnainc.org.
